Alarming Video Shows Point Law Enforcement Suffer Blade Attacks in Surprise Attack
A senior officer that leaped to the assistance of a colleague who was ambushed by a knifeman received the Royal Recognition for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he held a blade to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist subsequent to a traffic accident in that location in July 2023.
Brown knifed and cut both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a electric weapon.
"Policeman stabbed," the officer stated over his radio.
Officer-mounted and vehicle camera footage made public by the police department depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood up, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade extended.
He collided with the officer who stumbled and fell to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and attempted to subdue him to the pavement despite being repeatedly struck with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a clear shot, concluding the confrontation to an end.
Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Can I get something on my neck here, I've been stabbed in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell suffered two open wounds to his throat and further cuts to his arms and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster received cut injuries.
The department stated Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stem his fellow officer's blood loss before emergency responders came.
This most recent recognition comes subsequent to the trio of policemen were granted internal Bravery Awards in October 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the regional Police Federation in early 2024.
They further earned a Regional Courage Honor in summer 2024.
"The actions of the entire team ultimately rescued each other and meant no members of the public experienced any wounds."
Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, per authorities.
