Bondi Discloses Probe into President's Adversaries and Jeffrey Epstein Ties

This past Friday, the Attorney General designated interim US attorney Jay Clayton to lead an inquiry into opponents of Donald Trump and their links with the late financier. This move came shortly after Trump instructed her to initiate the probe.

During an announcement, the Attorney General highlighted Jay Clayton as “a highly skilled and reliable legal expert”. She stated, “As with all matters, the department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people.”

This action appears to contradict a July memo from federal authorities which declared that the Epstein files did not warrant additional investigations. According to the memo, authorities “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties”

That same day, the President announced he would ask the DOJ to examine connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, specifically naming Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Interestingly, Trump also described the “Epstein situation” as a “deception”.
