Nearly 135 days after Russell Martin's initial media briefing as the club's head coach, his replacement the German coach met with the media at Rangers' stadium for the initial occasion.

The magnitude of the task facing him is well known, given his predecessor's turbulent and unsuccessful four-month tenure.

The ex- Sheffield Wednesday boss was accompanied by club chairman the chairman, along with the much-criticized pair of sporting director Kevin Thelwell and chief executive Stewart.

But what precisely did we learn from the 36-year-old German's maiden media outing as the club's manager?

Rohl's Main Priority - Winning is Everything

A single message came through clearly from Rohl's first appearance before the local press - he understands the necessity to win matches, and achieve this quickly.

The previous manager Martin managed just 17 games and four months in charge, so the inquiry arose about how long the new man believes is reasonable to turn around the underperforming team.

Although deftly sidestepping a specific response that might create future pressure, Rohl's message was quite clear.

"Hopefully very quickly," he stated. "That is crucial.
"In football you have limited time. You can discuss future plans but we know it's about immediate results and the short-term involves winning games. That is what I demand.
"Another aspect remains clear - I require every squad member to comprehend how we want to play. I return to my primary theme: it's winning, entertaining football and unity. By following this order, I'm convinced that I will remain very long at the club."

Pressure is Normal

Martin required security protection to exit the stadium after his final match as manager.

We've seen how hostile environments can turn at sports teams when results are poor. Demonstrations have nearly become a regular aspect of the matchday experience on each part of the city these days.

As Rangers' youngest ever head coach, the question asked about which attributes Rohl believes he possesses that would allow him to handle, let alone excel, in among the highest-pressure positions in British football?

"In my opinion pressure in this business are standard," he commented. "You must learn that rapidly.
"I believe certain individuals might mention my youth but I have been a decade and a half in this career. I had a great chance to work with Bayern Munich and be only an assistant coach, but I experienced the reality to be a head coach and the pressure involved.
"When you start winning games and then some critics will say you must produce entertaining football. That's the next stage but that's exactly my intention. I enjoy those expectations and I'm excited about what's ahead."

Thelwell Defends Chermiti Signing & Hiring Family Member

Kevin Thelwell media conference

The media pack had plenty of questions from the media directed at Thelwell.

Significant attention has focused on the hiring of his son as recruitment chief, with supporters unconvinced about his credentials for the role.

Nevertheless, he defended and explained the choice to bring Thelwell Jnr to the club.

"It remains awkward to hear and optically I think we all agreed when we made this decision to appoint Robbie that he would be viewed in a particular way," Thelwell said.
"The reality of circumstances is that we want to attract the very best talent here.
"My view on his professional path and situation is he required no family help in soccer.
"He's worked at Aston Villa as a senior scout, he then joined Norwich City as head of scouting and then got promoted to development role.
"Before we recruited him, multiple Premier League clubs wanted to sign him. What we did right at the start of the process was consult with the CEO, Andrew and vice-chairman Marathe about this situation.
"I was extremely transparent and I think Robbie probably experienced a more rigorous process than any other who's employed by this football club.
"What I do know is that he will work 25/8 to achieve success for this football club and I anticipate to him proving that he'll become a valuable staff member for the club."

Thelwell also defended the acquisition of forward Youssef Chermiti, who arrived at the club for a reported initial fee of £8m, having failed to find the net in 24 games for Everton.

The sporting director who transferred the Portuguese youth international to Merseyside from Sporting Lisbon - again for significant money in a fifteen million pound transfer.

He was asked if he supports his expensive signing, who is yet to register in seven matches for Rangers.

"Yes, very much so," Thelwell answered. "I think Youssef Chermiti is a player who's possesses great ability.
"I've never doubted him whatsoever. Again, I believe the manager will help to maximize the potential out of the player.
"It's very initial stages for him, he remains young talent and naturally with inexperienced players they occasionally take time.
"But I'm certain throughout of his career here he's going to prove that he's a very, very good player."

Stewart Acknowledges Supporters' Frustration and Hurt

The chief executive was facing scrutiny, given the criticism that has been directed at him by certain of the club's fans.

Additionally, there was a banner in the Sandy Jardine stand during the recent tie with United suggesting him - and the sporting director - to depart before they were packed for them.

Similar to the sporting director, Stewart didn't evade the topic.

"I completely appreciate the disappointment and hurt that fans are feeling because performances recently haven't been good enough and nobody's satisfied with those," he said.
"The pain and frustration they feel is mirrored within the boardroom.
"Also understand that there must exist a channel for those frustrations and in my role, I'm responsible.
"I'm a lightning rod for those and my responsibility as a
