The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could assist the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
